    SPOON CARVING DAY

    LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF GREEN WOOD CARVING - FROM WOOD AND TOOL SELECTION, SPLITTING, USE OF AXE AND SLOYD KNIVES. LEAVE WITH YOUR OWN SPOON AND CONDIMENT SPREADER, AND THE SKILLS TO ENABLE YOU TO SAFELY CONTINUE THIS PEACEFUL CRAFT AT HOME (OR PERHAPS EVEN IN THE WOODS!)

I run courses from Tetbury, Stroud or bespoke sessions at your home/venue.

Once you’ve learned how to safely spoon carve you’re welcome to join our local spoon club - a monthly gathering of likeminded green woodworkers.

All courses suitable for absolute beginners unless otherwise stated.

Woodland wellbeing. 2.5 hr.

Spend time surrounded by trees and nature with a small group (bespoke sessions also available) learning about the evidence base for “forest bathing” and wellbeing as well as building the confidence to practise what you learn in your everyday life. This course is suitable for all and is very inclusive.

Spatula Carving. 2.5 hr.

use an axe, knife, shavehorse and drawknife to carve a spatula from green wood.

Introduction to green woodwork.

learn to carve a butter knife or spatula and cooking spoon. Use an axe, straight knife and hook knife. Learn about wood selection and tool maintenance.

Become a Spoon Carver.

Take a weekend to learn everything you need to know to carve different types of spoons - cooking, eating, teaspoon etc. This gives you time

Carve an eating spoon. All day.

This course is for people who have some experience of carving. Maybe you’ve been on a previous course or perhaps you want to develop your skills.
